Our Story

The land that would one day become The Ranch at Talimichi was purchased under a canvas auction tent just east of here on October 8, 1968. The proud new owners, Clyde and Doris Corbin, didn’t just buy property that day—they laid the foundation for a legacy. The day before the auction, Clyde had taken a quiet walk alone and wandered across the Kiamichi River. There, he met a barefoot stranger—Snookie Bailey—a man who would go on to become a lifelong friend. Snookie introduced Clyde to the wild muscadines of the land—nature’s unexpected treasures—and left an impression that would echo through generations. Today, Clyde and Doris’s grandson, Weston Corbin, carries on the spirit of the ranch as owner and proprietor of The Ranch Restaurant at Talimichi. This transformation—from a riverside homestead into a beloved restaurant—was a natural one. Weston grew up steeped in culinary tradition, inspired by the flavors and wisdom of his mother Laconia, and grandmothers Irene McCarn and Doris Corbin. After years away pursuing his passion—earning his culinary credentials and serving an eight-year tenure as Executive Chef at the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion—Weston found his way back. Because, as the saying goes, once you drink from the Kiamichi River, you can never truly leave..
